On Tuesday 10 March a small but well-trained team of boys left Whitehall School for the playing fields of Somersham Primary school for a Cross Country match. Conditions were excellent for running and after a quick warm up the boys were off.

Harry Godsell was the quickest off the line for Whitehall and soon tucked in behind the early leaders from Somersham who were setting a brisk pace. Also towards the back of the leading group were Roman York and David Keene who were settling in to a steady rhythm.

The end of the second of four laps saw Harry make his move to the front and stretch the field to see if anyone could stay with his blistering pace. Despite a valiant effort from a couple of the Somersham runners it was clear that no one was going to catch Harry and he continued to increase his lead to cross the finish line well ahead of the leading Somersham contender. Well done Harry! Meanwhile, Roman York had managed to pinch a couple of places with a very strong final lap to finish in third place, and with David finishing only two places behind in fifth, it was a strong showing from the Whitehall boys. Making his debut was Alex Johnson who finished in a very creditable ninth place with strong run. Well done Whitehall.
