Maypole dancing is a fun activity for all ages and abilities, where teamwork is vitality important. It is one of the few forms of dance where the focus is not on the dancer or the individual but on the patterns and the ribbons created as a group. This means the dancers need to think and learn in new and creative ways.

The Maypole Dancers quickly learnt to maintain their space and keep in time with the other dancers to produce some very intricate patterns; the cobweb being their favourite but also the dizziest. By the last session they were working on their own arrangements including spiralling plaits which were very impressive (pictured). Most importantly, no one ended up tied to the pole!

Well done Maypole Dancers!
