Enrichment

Expanding personal experiences and growing together

Extra Curricular Activities

Our calendar contains an amazing range of activities run during the school day and after school in clubs by the staff to enhance the work done within the curriculum. The children might be selling goods as part of Fair-trade week, spending a day tasting foods of the world, taking part in Christmas cooking, planting Royal Oak trees in the Somersham community field or fundraising for a charity.

Wellbeing

We have a Wellbeing Coordinator who ensures that each child’s personal wellbeing is monitored and supported, working in partnership with parents.

We offer Yoga & Meditation and are introducing a Soundbath experience each term to teach the children relaxation through music.

We offer a hot meal at lunchtime. The children love the food and it has helped many to become very good eaters as they enjoy the sociable aspect. A packed lunch is also an option.

Trips & Visits

Educational visits take place for all year groups. Many visits aim to inspire the children in a practical way about current topics of learning and others are to build confidence and have fun together.

In the summer, Years 3 & 4 camp out in the Whitehall garden in the school tents and Years 5 & 6 spend 3 days at a residential trip where they have a thrilling time trying new activities. They have also visited London for a trip to the Science Museum, the London Eye and took part in Young Voices.

Clubs & Private Lessons

After-school clubs run from 3.20 – 4.00pm offer a wide range of extra activities. A sample of these are; Comic Strip, Mandarin, Photography & Animation, Poetry, Gardening, Chess, Textiles, Choir, Football and Swimming club.

We have peripatetic teachers offering; Drama, Piano, Violin, Guitar, Singing, Drums & preparation for graded exams.

School Council

We believe that as the children who come to Whitehall School are the fundamental reason for us being here, giving them a say in the running of the school through the School Council seemed like an obvious choice.

The School Council, each being a representative of a class from Reception upwards and directly elected by their classmates, meet to discuss areas of the school relating to the comments of their friends and classmates. The school takes all of the comments from the School Council seriously and are currently implementing some of their excellent ideas.
