HMS Whitehall had a fantastic maiden voyage. All the children in the school made a fantastic effort for our sea themed day. There was everything in the fancy dress parade from jellyfish to pirates! The day kicked off with the infants writing postcards from the seaside and decorating placemats for lunch. The juniors engaged in a lively and passionate debate about why we should protect our seas. The quiz followed and each house tried their best to answer our very professional Year 6 quiz masters!
After a sea themed lunch of scampi followed by the children’s very own creation which they made in the morning with the help of the PTA – a clam biscuit! Clamtastic!
After lunch, the children did some sea songs and enjoyed a film before taking part in a costume parade judged by our special guests – John and Clare Slade. John Slade was also the guest speaker for our assembly and the children were fascinated with his tales of deep sea diving. He bought along some amazing treasures for the children to see, aswell as all his diving equipment. It was an amazing ending to an amazing day.
