Hat-trick Harry secures an exciting 4 – 4 draw in the U11s vs. Somersham Primary match.

A 4–4 draw in a game in which Whitehall were winning up until the last minute, feels more like a loss but on the balance of play it was probably a fair outcome.

Whitehall went 2-0 up in the 1st half with superbly taken goals from Harry Godsell and Callum Jackson, before they were pegged back to 2-2 by Somersham. Somersham could have scored a few more but for an excellent display from David Keene who made a number of crucial and excellent saves in goal. Whitehall’s midfield duo of Harry and Callum continued to create good chances and Harry secured his hat-trick from an improbable angle midway through the second half to take Whitehall to 4-2. The game opened up as Somersham pushed hard to bridge the gap and despite some excellent defending from Alex and Peter Johnson they scored. It looked like Whitehall were going to finish as victors despite chances at both ends but, with less than a minute remaining an unfortunate ricochet resulted in a goal line scramble and an equaliser for Somsersham.

Whitehall should be pleased with their performance but need to learn to hang on to a lead if they are to win the return fixture later in the year.
